Editing and regenerating Chat messages

Change an earlier question or request another answer, then compare the result with the version you intended.

Use Chat message actions when a request needs correcting or an answer needs another attempt.

Edit your question

  1. Find your message and choose Edit message.
  2. Correct the wording or add a constraint. For example, change “Explain a Repair Café” to “Explain a Repair Café in three short bullet points.”
  3. Choose Save & Resend.
  4. Read the new answer. Check that it addresses the revised request.

Editing resubmits the request and can change the subsequent path of the conversation. If you want a separate direction you can return to, create a branch first.

Regenerate an answer

Choose Regenerate beneath the answer to request another attempt using the same question. Review the new result rather than assuming it is more accurate. Give a specific follow-up when you know what needs changing, such as “Keep the dates, but use a friendlier tone.”

Stop an unhelpful response

Use Stop generating while an answer is running. Read Stopping and queuing messages before resuming a paused request.
